Greater Nashua YMCA

Greater Nashua YMCA

Nashua, NH

The YMCA was under a tight timeline to plan and construct a new facility in Nashua. Facing challenging renovations of their existing facility, the Y decided to sell their building to a local hospital and relocate to a new facility in the recreation center of the City. Although the hospital provided the Y with a reasonable timeline to vacate their existing site there was no time to lose in the planning and construction of a new building. The Y turned to Harvey and Dennis Mires PA The Architects to deliver the new facility.

Harvey and DMPATA worked together to develop a program and plan which met the Y’s goals and stayed within their limited funding. Although preconstruction efforts required extensive value engineering efforts to achieve desired construction budget, an acceptable GMP was produced for the project.

Construction of the 46,464 s/f facility included: a six-lane competitive pool, family pool, full gymnasium, elevated track, wellness and cardiac areas, dance studios and child care areas. Construction of the Greater Nashua YMCA was completed as scheduled, under budget and unused contingency was returned to the Y.
