Facing the first capital construction project at their hospital in more than 30 years Lawrence General Hospital was also facing limited funding and an industry-wide steel crisis. Citing the need for a partner with pre-construction expertise and proven cost control experience the hospital engaged Harvey to assist in the planning of the new 38,000 s/f emergency department replacement.
Harvey’s estimating team developed pricing strategies to protect the hospital’s budget while preserving a high level of finish throughout the building. Pricing options relative to design schemes, materials options and construction sequencing were assembled by the team enabling the hospital to confidently make decisions on cost while maintaining the anticipated end date.
The success of the team’s pre-construction effort resulted in the hospital securing the same team for construction management services.
